The VIDEONALE.14 app
We are showing A short film about War as part of Videonale 14 currently on exhibition at Kunst Museum Bonn in Germany. The exhibition will be touring around over next year or so but you can also download an App for you phone that gives you all the catalogue information and more... As a guide to VIDEONALE.14, the Videonale App provides additional information about the exhibition, the artists exhibited and their works, and can be used as an interactive plan of the exhibition. In addition, an interview with the jury gives an insight into how the festival was organised. The app also offers short descriptions, opening times and a route planner of the Videonale Parcours in Bonn."

DECORATIVE NEWS FOREST HILL CLOSES
After seven years our outdoor version of Decorative Newsfeeds in Forest Hill, London will be decommissioned today. It was only supposed to be there for five years so we're happy that it has had such a long run. You can find documentation of the piece on our website at:
http://www.thomson-craighead.net/docs/decnfh.html
and you can also still see our other outdoor version of this work in Cambridge by The Junction theatre:
http://www.thomson-craighead.net/docs/decncam.html
Thank you to everyone who has supported both works over the years and if anyone wants to give the Forest Hill version a new home then do get in touch, although it's possibly a bit big for most living room walls :)

(ENGLISH )
The artists, critics, researchers and curators invited to contribute to this publication are giving us the keys, references and insights to comprehend the various art forms that coexist on the net, in its interstices and its peripheries. From an artistic point of view, the authors reflect upon what has taken place on the internet in the last two decades, and express how they perceived, experienced and lived through this era. From a social, political and artistic point of view, the contributors tell us: how the network changed their relationship to the world, time and space; how it transformed their uses, practices and ways of thinking; and how it became a space for sharing, exchanging and creating.
In a prospective approach, they are forecasting the coming years, wondering if the internet can stay a territory worth exploring in the future and if it will still be a fertile ground to produce hybrid art forms in which the physical and virtual worlds merge, rub off on each other and collide. The contributors also present a selection of websites they regard as significant, iconic and essential.

More Songs of Innocence and of Experience
We've just made More Songs of Innocence and of Experience as part of Our Mutual Friends commissioned by Film & Video Umbrella, London. This online exhibition launches at Jerwood Space in London on 30th August and also includes work by Graham Hudson, Gayle Chong Kwan and Janice Kerbal.
More Songs of Innocence and of Experience are a series of karaoke videos that take a fresh look at unsolicited spam emails and their affinities with the romanticism and realism in Charles Dicken's novel, 'Our Mutual Friend'. In both Dicken's novel and our online culture the language of romanticism and realism becomes intertwined with languages of exploitation whether it be the scam email, the hard luck story that attempts to extort or more generally the realms of advertising, evangelical religion, politics etc.
You can see the first three videos in this series here:

The exhibition website for Our Mutual Friends launches on 30th August, 2012. Our Mutual Friends is commissioned by Film and Video Umbrella and presented in partnership with Jerwood Charitable Foundation, Turner Contemporary, Margate and Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth.

E-POLTERGEIST RELAUNCHED
Revue Bleuorange based in Montreal asked us to rework our 2001 webwork e-poltergeist for Issue 05 of their online journal available right here.
e-poltergeist (2001/2012) is an online art work made entirely out of automated actions that intervene and interfere with normal browsing activity. As the disruptive 'poltergeist' spawns unwanted windows onto the user's desktop, live search data begins to form into a series of messages that appear to be directly addressing the computer user -a lost voice perhaps, caught in the ether.
This version of e-poltergeist is a reworking of the original piece first commissioned for the exhibition 010101: Art in Technological Times held at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) in 2001. It has also been translated into French especially for the fifth issue of bleuOrange.

Concretely Immaterial HICA + grey) (area
We're showing The Time Machine in alphabetical order in Croatia as part of this exhibition opening today. Here are the details and go take a break from the beach or the glittering sea and take a look if you're in Korčula :
25 July - 11 September, 2011
This collaborative project will form an exhibition in two parts, showing at grey) (area space of contemporary and media art, Korčula, Croatia, from 25th July - 7th August and then HICA, the Highland Institute for Contemporary Art, Inverness-shire, Scotland, from 14th August - 11th September
Artists showing at grey) (area will be Geoff Lucas (UK), Eloi Puig (Spain) and Thomson + Craighead (UK). Artists showing at HICA will be Samuel Cepeda (Mexico), Nina Czegledy (Canada) + Marcus Neustetter (South-Africa), Darko Fritz (Croatia / Netherlands), Andreja Kulunčić (Croatia), Edita Pecotić (Croatia / UK), Transfer (Croatia) and Goran Trbuljak (Croatia).
Virtual states are variously employed in the artworks, especially through computer technology. In line with the title, Concretely Immaterial, the exhibition proposes these states, as well as such things as the works’ effects in the spaces of the galleries, and the experience of the viewers, as substantial and real.
The collaborative form of the exhibition provides a framework for this exploration, as both galleries are at some distance from each other, and occupy what might be considered remote locations; viewers, it is expected, will experience the exhibition at least partly through technology or their imaginations.
Concretely Immaterial will run at grey) (area, Korčula, Croatia, from 25 July - 7 August, and HICA, Inverness-shire, Scotland, from 14 August - 11 September.
The exhibition at HICA is open on Sundays 2 - 5pm, or by appointment.
